The Tremendous 2010’s!
In 2011 we were awarded the contract to manufacture 101 temporary stables and stalls for the King’s Troop when in temporary residence at Wellington Barracks. This proved a milestone contract as we perfected our our jigs and manufacturing to produce high quality units for sale. This contract coincided with our successful tender for the 300 temporary stables needed in Greenwich Park for the London 2012 Olympics. The LOCOG contract was awarded in late February and we immediately set about fabricating 100 units for the 2011 July Test Event. This was indeed a challenging project as the barn stables were installed on raised platforms with stable mats and fully draining floors, collecting and discharging the urine and water waste. Gladly all test events went to plan and the installation and dismantling under full Sustainability ISO 20121 and CDM 2007 supervision requirements were successful.
The Winter of 2011-12 was certainly not a quiet one as we fabricated the remainder of the 300 Greenwich Barn Stables (this time with grey partitions, hence the Greenwich Range name) including 15 in single row for the mounted police. We trialled and tested the fully draining floors and the runoff waste collection designs gaining approval from the Olympic organisers in March 2012 (at which point the country was having its driest winter ever!). On the 1 April the Greenwich Park transformation to Olympic Equestrian Complex began and so did the rain, the Woodhouse temporary stables installation was delayed until the middle of June and we stayed on site through the handover to competitors at the end of the 3rd week of July when gladly the rain also stopped just in time! The London 2012 Olympic Games was a huge success in everybody’s eyes, the organisers, the competitors and the public. Our Dressage Team won Team Gold and Individual Gold and Bronze medals, our Showjumpers won Team Gold and our Eventers Team Silver medals, not to mention the medal hoard of our Paralympian Athletes winning 5 Gold, 5 Silver and 1 Bronze medal and at Woodhouse we were proud to have done our bit to ensure their horses were relaxed and ready to perform at their best – which they did!
We successfully won the tender, in January 2013, for the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen, Normandy, France for 350 barn stables at the Stade D’Ornano Complex where all the Olympic equestrian disciplines were stabled and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies held. This project went to plan and our event specialist teams provided a first class, on time installation using our quality temporary stables to significant International acclaim.
In September Woodhouse commissioned an industry leading 7.4m Flat PVC Washing Machine from UK suppliers Havencrown. This is the first time a machine of this length has ever been made to our knowledge and we were ruled by the width of our Back to Back temporary stable roof sheets at 7.2m which now are 100% PVC. This investment has been a great addition to our depot capabilities, extending the life of our covers and their quality. It has also allowed us to drive forward our sustainability programme through using harvested rainwater alongside of our 96% recycling of waste and our ISO 14001 and ISO 20121 sustainability accreditations held continuously since 2012.
