It took over 6 decades of usage, trial and error to improve on the original Woodhouse timber stable erected in 1933 at the Three Counties Show. But our Quickstables are a worthy successor. Introduced in 1999, they are our first nail-free and kick-through resistant temporary stables. As well as being highly durable and hygienic, they also improved safety and security with their sustainable sourced kick-through resistant, recycled plastic partitions and doors. Then, in 2008 at Hickstead, we launched our Barn Stables, in response to demand for spacious indoor stabling, offering protection from the erratic UK weather conditions.
As with all our new products, we developed our Barn Stables in consultation with our clients, and with practical input from our experienced site foremen. This innovation helped us win the international tender for the London 2012 Games, and we have now developed the concept further to create a secure Vets Block with treatment stables, an inspection area and a secure, hard-roofed office.
Our Clearspan® structures continue to set the standard for robust, modern trade stands. When we introduced them in the early 1990s alongside our tried and tested timber Shedding®, we specified six-metre bays, and a heavier profile to support a wide range of displays, an integrated banner rail and to endure repeated handling. This design continues to stand the test of time and has indeed replaced its predecessor, timber shedding.
We introduced our first 8-tread sectional timber grandstand in 1947, and our first 12-tread covered grandstand at the Devon County Show in 1955. Today we offer the modern aluminium equivalent, which is more compact to transport and offers optimum sight lines and comfortable seating for spectators.
In the early 2000s, our Quicktrack panel provided a versatile, lightweight – yet very strong and sustainable – alternative to the historic twin-track Woodhouse oak trackboards available since the 1930’s. Always aiming to improve, we still continue to test new panels for light vehicle access, hard standing, car parking and, most recently, our popular horse walkways.

Thanks for all the hard work Woodhouse put in to make GRP and the Games the success they were. GRP was a favourite venue of many and Woodhouse had a sound reputation among the site team and other stakeholders. I wish you and the Woodhouse all the best for the future.
